"The most exciting thing going on in children's programming!"

- Gwendolyn Freed, National Arts Journalism Program Journal of Columbia University

Our Mission

Renovation In Music Education (RIME) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit corporation helping young people, arts organizations, and communities succeed through innovative music-partnership programs. Our programs propel students to remarkable goals, strengthen their attachment to school, and raise their levels of achievement. At the same time, they increase the capacity of arts organizations to serve and thrive in their communities, and enhance opportunities, resources, and quality of life, in the community itself.

We have a special commitment to students from disadvantaged circumstances, for whom our approach has been particularly successful. A growing body of research links participation in the arts to overall improvements in academic achievement, with the greatest boost occurring for students from disadvantaged circumstances. Fueled by superlative, new methodology, and unprecedented collaboration, our programs provide some of the richest arts-learning experiences in the nation to some of its neediest students.

Our Programs

From a fifth grade girl who had to be released from meetings with her parole officer in order to perform with the Albany Symphony Orchestra, to Philippe Entremont conducting a legion of young people on Florida’s largest stage, RIME's programs bring people together, improve their lives, and transform what, how, and to whom, music education is delivered.

Our programs include the Concert Curriculum, in which students follow an accelerated curriculum in which they collaborate, rehearse, and perform with a professional-level orchestra, and the Disc Curriculum, in which a curriculum culminates in the collaborative production of a compact disc. Musicorps is a new music partnership program for helping severely injured soldiers in their rehabilitation.
