Arthur Bloom – President and Founder

Arthur Bloom holds a literature degree from Yale College, and music degrees from Juilliard and the Yale School of Music. His experience as a composer in a variety of musical styles and genres is reflected in credits that span from The Albany Symphony Orchestra, The Tulsa Philharmonic, The Israel Chamber Orchestra, and Orchestra New England, to National Public Radio, HBO, and Def Jam/CBS Records. He has taught sociology at Yale University, composition at the Educational Center for the Arts in Connecticut, and has written about music and recording technology for MIX Magazine. Mr. Bloom's orchestral music has been recorded by the Albany Symphony Orchestra, featured on NPR's Performance Today, and heard in numerous venues, including The Kitchen in New York City, and The Kravis Center for the Performing Arts in Florida. Mr. Bloom is the recipient of numerous awards, including an ASCAP Foundation Grant to Young Composers. A documentary broadcast on NPR for which he composed and produced the music was awarded the 1996 Robert F. Kennedy Memorial Award in Radio Journalism. In 1997, Mr. Bloom received a Meet The Composer "New Music For Schools" Grant, and created An Orchestra's Guide To The Young Person. Following its success, Mr. Bloom founded Renovation In Music Education.

Hiro Yoshikawa – Vice President

A Juilliard-trained pianist, Professor of Education at the Harvard Graduate School of Education, and Professor of Applied Psychology at NYU (on leave), Prof. Yoshikawa is a developmental and community psychologist who conducts research on the development of children, and the effects of public policies and intervention. Among other projects, he is researching the development of young children and adolescents in Nanjing, China. He is also collaborating with other faculty at Harvard and the director of Early Childhood Programs of the Boston Public Schools on a comprehensive age three to third grade intervention to address multiple domains of school readiness and achievement. In 2006, Russell Sage published Yoshikawa's book on the effects of low-wage employment on children (Making it Work: Low-Wage Employment, Family Life, and Child Development, with Thomas S. Weisner and Edward Lowe). He regularly advises government agencies, foundations, and educational and nongovernmental organizations in the United States and abroad.

Frank H. Klein – Secretary

Frank H. Klein holds a B.A. from Brown University, and an L.L.B. from the University of Virginia Law School. He served as an officer in the U.S. Navy from 1956 through 1959, and was admitted to practice law in Virginia and in New York in 1962. Mr. Klein is a partner of, and has spent his entire legal career at, the law firm now known as Bangser, Klein, Rocca & Blum, LLP.

Susan Crawford – Treasurer

Susan Crawford holds a B.A. from Yale University, a J.D. from the Yale School of Law, and teaches at the Cardozo School of Law. Prof. Crawford specializes in internet policy, and practiced law in DC for 10 years where she was a partner at the firm of Wilmer, Cutler & Pickering. She has taught Copyright at Georgetown University, written extensively on ICANN, and is an accomplished violist who performs frequently.

Edward M. Suh – Asst. Secretary - Treasurer

Edward M. Suh holds a B.A. in Chemistry from Yale College, and a Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry from Harvard University. Dr. Suh is Associate Director of Medicinal Chemistry at the Eisai Research Institute in Massachusetts, where he helped establish the New Leads Chemistry Division, and manages the research of two pre-clinical oncology projects in the division of Medicinal Chemistry. In addition to his work as a scientist, Dr. Suh is an accomplished singer-songwriter.
