Arthur Bloom, FounderRIME was founded by composer Arthur Bloom. Bloom holds a literature degree from Yale College, and music degrees from Juilliard and the Yale School of Music. His experience as a composer in a variety of musical styles and genres is reflected in credits that span from The Albany Symphony Orchestra, The Tulsa Philharmonic, The Israel Chamber Orchestra, The Memphis Symphony Orchestra, and Orchestra New England, to National Public Radio, HBO, and Def Jam/CBS Records. He has taught sociology at Yale University, composition at the Educational Center for the Arts in Connecticut, and has written about music and recording technology for MIX Magazine. Bloom's orchestral music has been recorded by the Albany Symphony Orchestra, featured on NPR's Performance Today, and heard in numerous venues, including The Kitchen in New York City, and The Kravis Center for the Performing Arts in Florida. Bloom is the recipient of numerous awards, including an ASCAP Foundation Grant to Young Composers. A documentary broadcast on NPR for which he composed and produced the music was awarded the 1996 Robert F. Kennedy Memorial Award in Radio Journalism. In 1997, Bloom received a Meet The Composer "New Music For Schools" Grant, and created the first Concert Curriculum for the Albany Symphony Orchestra. The novelty of the program, and its success in a variety of communities, spawned growing enthusiasm for national distribution. Bloom established RIME in order to bring the Concert Curriculum and complementary programs to the many young people, arts organizations, and communities that would benefit from them, and to wake up the sleeping giant of music education. Arthur Bloom currently serves as RIME's President and Executive Director. |
